We have teamed up with Sites43 to bring you a free ‘brochure’ style website, and this isn’t a website builder or template based offer, like some of the free websites you can get, this is a professional standard site that will be built just for you.

It’s free, so what’s the catch? To have a website, you need 3 things: the website that customers see (FREE!), a domain name to identify it, and a server to put it on. You only pay the last two bits, saving yourself the main upfront cost of getting online. For £6 per month, you will receive a domain name (that’s the www bit), up to four email address yourname@yourdomainname.com, a user guide to show you how to update the website (written in a non-geek, easy to follow format), add new pages, write news articles to keep your content fresh and link it to your social media accounts. If you don’t want to get your hands dirty (although it is pretty straightforward), Sites43 also offer various services at very competitive prices or, because you will own the website outright, you can use a family expert or web designer of your choice to work on your site. The choice is yours.

All you need to do to benefit from this offer is register as a reader of VanUser, you will receive a promotional code, go to www.sites43.com/vanowner and send them the information they need to build your site.

You can find more information, including technical info if you need it, at Sites43’s website. During the setup process, you will be asked to provide some pictures. Sites43 will give you a few basic possibilities, but if you really want to give your website a unique look, you can provide your own or try www.unsplash.com for free to use photos.  If you want advice or help, then talk to the people at Sites43, who will help you put this together.  It really is easy.

Picking a domain name:

When you choose your domain name, it’s important to think about what people will type into Google.  It’s great to have your business name but if potential customers are searching plumber for instance, are they likely to type ‘your business name’ into google or ‘plumber in your town’?  Clearly it is the latter and that will generate the results and being near the top of the results page on Google is important.

If you already have a website, get another one!  If the first page of Google results (for plumber in your town) throws up 10 results, be two of them – you will double your chances of that new customer contacting you.
